Bold Ideas, Practical Action

Building Wealth on Your Terms

Dear S&S Community,

In this edition’s business spotlight, we’re zeroing in on what it really takes to build something that lasts. It’s not just strategy and spreadsheets, it’s the grit to keep going when no one’s watching, the creativity to pivot when plans change, and the courage to put your work into the world before it feels “perfect.”

So, grab your coffee, open your notes app, and let’s dive into strategies that will help you build with intention, adapt with confidence, and grow something that stands the test of time.

This edition, we share:

  • A Quick Framework for Smarter Decisions: The “80/20 Rule” in action, identify the 20% of actions that drive 80% of results in your business, and double down.

  • Founder-to-Founder Insight: Why imperfect launches often lead to faster growth than waiting for flawless execution.

  • Tool We Love: Notion — streamlines project management and keeps your team (and yourself) accountable.

  • Strengths Women Leaders Share — And how you can harness yours.

💡 Start tracking your energy ROI, not just your financial ROI. Notice which tasks give you momentum and which ones drain you. Build your schedule to protect your high energy hours for the work that truly moves the needle.

Sage&Steel

Whether you’re refining your systems, exploring new income streams, or learning to delegate, remember, you don’t have to do it all at once, but you do have to start.

The 80/20 Rule in Action

Focus on what moves the needle.
In every business, 20% of your actions generate 80% of your results. Identify those high-impact activities and protect time for them, whether it’s nurturing key client relationships, creating revenue-driving products, or strengthening your brand visibility.

Quick exercise:

  • Write down your top 5 business tasks this week.

  • Circle the 1–2 that have the greatest impact.

  • Do those first. Every. Single. Day.

Founder-to-Founder Insight

Why Imperfect Launches Win
Waiting for perfect slows you down and often costs you opportunities. Successful founders launch when it’s ready enough, then refine based on feedback. Real progress happens in the field, not in the planning room.

Try this mindset shift:
Instead of asking “Is it perfect yet?” ask “Is it ready for the next step?”

Tool We Love

Notion or Asana – A project management tool that simplifies to-do lists, keeps track of deadlines, and lets you see the big picture without losing sight of the small steps.

Why we love it:

  • Keeps your ideas, projects, and deadlines in one place.

  • Integrates with your calendar so you never miss a deliverable.

  • Encourages better delegation, so you’re not the bottleneck.

Strengths Women Leaders Share

Women in leadership come from every background and pathway, but research shows they often share common strengths.

  • Empathy & Emotional Intelligence – The ability to read people and situations, building trust and connection.

  • Holistic Thinking – Seeing the big picture and how different parts of a system interconnect.

  • Collaborative Problem-Solving – Encouraging input, finding common ground, and fostering team ownership.

  • Resilience & Adaptability – Navigating setbacks and shifting directions with strength and creativity.

  • Values-Driven Decisions – Leading with purpose and aligning actions with integrity.

FOUNDER SPOTLIGHT

Queen Of Curves - Zaha Hadid, Founder of Zaha Architects

She broke barriers as one of the first women to rise to global prominence in architecture. Her strength lay in her visionary, boundary-pushing creativity, paired with extraordinary resilience. Many of her early designs were dismissed as “unbuildable,” yet she persisted and went on to transform skylines across the world.

This week, ask yourself :

  • When do I feel most confident at work or in my personal life?
(Confidence often signals a natural strength)

  • What do people consistently turn to me for?
(Advice, organization, creativity, empathy..these patterns reveal strengths)

  • When I’ve faced challenges, what helped me push through?
    (Resilience, problem-solving, optimism, or adaptability?)

  • What kind of tasks or conversations make me lose track of time?
(Flow moments often point to where your strengths lie.)

  • Which of the leadership strengths listed above (empathy, holistic thinking, collaboration, resilience, values-driven decision-making) feels most natural to me?

  • If I could lean into just one strength this week, which would I choose and how could I put it into practice?

The most powerful leaders aren’t those who try to be everything, but those who bring forward the best of themselves, one strength at a time.
